About Studio Azzariti
Jennifer Azzariti is a ceramic artist and educator living and working in Washington, DC. Evolving from a lifelong exploration of creative materials, her hand-built, functional objects borrow inspiration and techniques from other material languages like collage and textiles, and incorporate press-molded sculptural elements cast from found objects.
Jennifer graduated from the Minnesota New Institute for Ceramic Education Program at Northern Clay Center in 2023. She received an Innovation Award from Strictly Functional Pottery National in 2024 and received an assistantship at the Women Working in Clay Symposium in 2025. Jennifer has presented at NCECA and currently serves as Programs Coordinator for the Montgomery Potters Association.
Artist's Statement

My ceramics hold significance beyond their everyday function—butter dishes that bring ceremony to the countertop,”hoodie hooks” that animate both clothes and imaginations, cake toppers that elevate the candle as well as the occasion. I make work that feels familiar yet unexpected, living in the space between utility and sculpture, where daily use becomes a small act of celebration.
Everyone has the right to beauty—whether it’s a favorite song, a quiet moment, or even a butter dish. Because materials and objects carry memories connecting us across time, my fancy ceramics intentionally blend nostalgia and formality with humorous elegance, making beauty accessible in everyday moments.
Clay responds to curiosity. My practice is grounded in decades of exploration across materials and techniques, borrowing from the languages of fiber, metal, and collage. Working primarily in porcelain, I am inspired by Wedgwood’s Jasperware, and often incorporate colored clay and use sprig-molds cast from found objects to bring my hand-built porcelain pieces to life.
I make things because I want them to exist in the world, eliciting smiles in unexpected moments of daily life.
